Training and User Support Specialist - law firm BJA 811
Location: Baltimore, MD with travel to other locations
Multi-office law firm is seeking a talented and knowledgeable Training and User Support Specialist to work in their Baltimore law office. Travel to other office locations will be necessary on occasions.
The hours are 8:00 to 5:00 or 9:00 to 6:00.
Salary is up to $60K, depending on experience.
You will be training in Microsoft Office 2010 applications, including Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint.
The Training and User Support Specialist is responsible for training end users on to how to use various types of software programs and hardware efficiently and effectively in support of business objectives. This individual is also responsible for designing, delivering, and improving in-house applications training programs and related courseware. Providing general technical support to users is part of the daily task.
Responsibilities:
· Developing and implementing training programs that address the Firm's technology education needs, as determined by expressed user needs, Firm management requests, Firm business or other strategic goals, and Help Desk problem patterns.
· Developing and maintaining training strategies and curricula for each software program used by the Firm.
· Developing programs to assess users' computer skills and to measure their participation in and growth through the Firm's training programs.
· Designing and maintaining new employee orientation and continuing education programs tailored to job function (for example, attorney, secretary, paralegal, administrative staff, summer law clerk).
· Maintaining the computer classroom in order to provide a comfortable and professional learning environment for trainees.
· Coordinating and scheduling of software training classes on a regular and routine basis.
· Developing and maintaining reference guides and software documentation for use by Firm personnel.
· Serving as the Firm's principal authority on desktop applications. Developing recommendations for new software and/or changes to existing software, as determined by user needs, Firm business goals, industry trends or other compelling reasons.
· Developing Firm-wide standards for document creation, editing and comparison which are in accordance with best practices.
· Maintaining and increasing one's own technical knowledge and software skill sets. Learning new software as required by Firm.
· Providing assistance to other members of the Information Technology Department in troubleshooting and resolving user technical problems; acting as part of the team and preforming tasks of the Software Specialist as needed.
· Providing assistance to other members of the Information Technology Department in planning and carrying out technology projects, including planning, implementing, and preparing for "rollout"-related training.
· Providing assistance to attorneys, paralegals and legal secretaries in the development of software strategies and application customizations to achieve the highest and best use of the Firm's software tools in the furtherance of client service.
· Evaluating and reviewing training classes offered by 3rd party training organizations that may be needed to augment or replace training programs offered within the Firm. Project managing these training programs when required to do so.
Formal Education & Certification:
· College diploma or university degree and/or work experience.
· Certifications desired.
Knowledge & Experience:
· Three (3) years of IT or Training experience
· Experience with staff development and/or human resources management.
· In-depth, hands-on knowledge of enterprise and desktop applications.
· Proven experience with adult learning principles, methodologies, and course design techniques.
· Experience with building and maintaining course and participant databases.
· Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
· Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, and strong to expert knowledge of other Microsoft Office 2010 applications, including Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint.
Work Conditions:
· Occasional travel between training locations required, so a reliable means of transportation will be needed.
