Boutique patent and trademark law firm is seeking a paralegal manager to serve as a point person for assignments directed to the Litigation Paralegal department.
You will ensure that work is appropriately delegated to paralegals (including oneself) and ensure that professional legal support is provided to attorneys for district court and appellate actions, PTAB proceedings, ITC investigations, interferences, opinions, and IP-related projects.
Essential Functions:
- Assign cases and assignments to various members of the Paralegal department as needed to ensure that the work is performed properly, and no individual is overburdened.
- Review, update, and approve of timesheets for members of the Paralegal department.
- Regularly inquire with attorneys about the quality of work being provided by members of the Paralegal department in order to keep abreast of Paralegal performance.
- Provide, at a minimum, performances reviews for members of the Paralegal department.
- Review and demo research products that may be of use to the department and as needed recommend the use of such products to your supervisor.
- Organize and maintain all case files, including but not limited to pleadings, discovery, correspondence, file histories and prior art, in electronic and paper formats
- Prepare and update case calendars using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and/or Excel
- Assist with coordination and management of electronic discovery, including the review and production, in various litigation databases including Everlaw and other web-based software
- Communicate and consult with the Attorneys and Litigation Support Specialist to establish best practices for each litigation
- Create both physical and electronic notebooks for prior art, hearings, depositions, and trial
- Perform research regarding inventors, assignees, court statistics and case law
- Draft letters, discovery, pleadings, and other legal documents
- Perform legal research utilizing LexisNexis and Westlaw
Job Requirements:
Education:
· 4-year undergraduate degree. Graduate degree or Paralegal certificate not required, but favorably considered
Experience:
· 5 or more years of experience in a litigation environment with a thorough knowledge of the litigation process. Prior management experience is a plus. Familiarity with Electronic Data Discovery and associated software.
Position Location: This position is in the Washington, DC office. The job is remote but you must live near the Washington, DC office.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
